Saginaw Township Community Schools

Community Education

All Swim Activities are cancelled. The Sherwood Pool is closed. See below for details on how you can help us reopen the pool!

The Sherwood Pool, used for daytime Aquatics Exercise for older adults, evening H2O Bootcamp for adults, and Swim School for teaching participants to swim, has been closed since February 2022 due to structural problems (dehumidifier, walls, ceiling, roof, etc.).

The Sherwood Pool is the only warm-water pool that is used exclusively by the community. It provides quality-of-life classes for almost 300 adults per seasonal sessions. Swim lessons provide over 100 children per session with a life-saving skill.

A cost assessment has been completed and the amount needed to repair/renovate the pool structure (The pool itself is in good condition) is estimated at $1.9 million. The amount needed to be raised is $1.5 million from individuals, companies, businesses, and organizations.

There are two ways to donate. The first is to contact Steve Elliott at 989-399-8029 for details. The second way is to donate online at the Community Education registration website saginaw.revtrak.net

A flyer with some details can be found below.

Please share this post to everyone you know who could help with the Sherwood Pool Re-Opening Project!
